Where is Luoyang Located?

Luoyang is in central China, in the western part of Henan Province. It lies on the north bank of the Yellow River, an important waterway in Chinese history. The city is approximately 130 kilometers (80 miles) west of Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province, and about 380 kilometers (236 miles) south of Beijing.

Location of Luoyang Attractions on the Map

Luoyang’s main attractions are located within easy reach of the city center. The Longmen Grottoes lie about 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) south of downtown. The White Horse Temple is situated around 20 kilometers (12 miles) east of the city center. Luoyang Ancient City is right in the heart of Luoyang and perfect for walking tours.

Luoyang Museum is located just a few kilometers southwest of the city center and offers insights into the city’s rich Silk Road history. Shaolin Temple is about 55 kilometers (34 miles) southeast of Luoyang and can be visited on a day trip.
